Chowhound: Society Café at Encore Las Vegas

Wynn Las Vegas and its sister hotel, Encore Las Vegas, are two of the best casino hotels on the Las Vegas Strip. From service to rooms and nightclubs to restaurants are all top notch and done with a touch of class. I've been to countless restaurants between the two hotels and have never left disappointed. That tradition continued for me one afternoon when I decided to visit Society Cafe.

Society Cafe is located in Encore Las Vegas and has a very similar European decor you see throughout the hotel. The restaurant felt very rich and airy when I walked in and was particularly nice since other café’s I seem to visit are cramped so they can squeeze as many people in as possible. Society Cafe was the perfect place for a low key and relaxing lunch. It is your basic casino coffee shop turned up a notch and with a twist on comfort food we all crave after a night in Vegas.

On my most recent visit I just wanted something very simple and basic after a night out on the Vegas Strip.  I decided on the organic turkey sandwich which was topped with applewood smoked bacon and lettuce. I needed bacon. Everything on the sandwich tasted very fresh as I have come to expect from a Wynn restaurant.

I like bacon and eat a lot of it, so I notice the little things when I see it. Sometimes at a casino cafe, the bacon will look, feel and taste as though it's been sitting around all day. Not at Society Cafe. It tasted and looked as if it was prepared just for my sandwich. It was the perfect complement to the organic turkey. The sandwich hit the spot and was just what I wanted.

I didn't explore any of the interesting (twisted) lunch options, like the Waygu pastrami, but I could not have been more satisfied. My friend had the Ahi Sliders from the daily specials menu and said it was great, but he wasn't too into the spongy bread. Overall, he was happy, but not as excited as I was with my applewood bacon and organic turkey sandwich.

With so many dining options at Wynn and Encore, Society Cafe isn't the first place I would have thought to grab a bite, but I'm glad I did. My sandwich and soda lunch was twenty something dollars after tax and tip and is the average price I'm used to paying for a sandwich and drink when having a quick meal on The Strip. The freshness of the food and menu variety will probably have me returning to Society for lunch again, sooner rather than later.

Pro Tip: Society Cafe is a little out of the way from the hustle and bustle of the casino and it would be a great place for a business meeting.
