Las Vegas Hotel: Excalibur Resort and Casino

You might ask yourself why you would stay at a giant castle when heading to Las Vegas. You could say you want to be someone’s “Knight in Shining Amour” or perhaps your ideal vacation has hints of the dark ages or some snapshot of medieval times. It also could be that you know a good deal when you see one. Excalibur Hotel is located among one of the busiest intersections in Las Vegas. You are surrounded by the MGM Grand, NY/NY Casino and the LUXOR. Within minutes walking distance is CityCenter, Monte Carlo and Mandalay Bay. If location and price are important this is the hotel you should be looking at.

Sleep. This hotel is starting to show some wear and tear however over the past few years the people in charge have slowly brought it up to speed. The rooms were recently renovated and they now are on par with most of the mid-range priced properties on the strip. While there might not be any fancy amenities you will get updated color schemes and furniture. The hotel is clean, safe and affordable. If you are traveling with a family to Las Vegas this is an ideal hotel because it actually was once created to cater to families. Yes, arcades, food courts and inexpensive options make this an ideal choice for the cheap Vegas vacation.

Eat. The food court is massive so I’ll get it out of the way right from the start and say you can eat for cheap. Done. However, you do not go to Las Vegas to eat like you are at the local shopping mall. Maybe you choose the buffet. $35 gets you all you can eat buffet, all day, at both the Luxor and the Excalibur buffets. That is an enormous deal. However, you still want to have something better. You could opt for the steakhouse but try Dick’s Last resort instead. It’s raucous, it’s edgy and it is a lot of fun. The food is decent and the entertainment is worth an afternoon. If you are traveling with the family head in to Buca Di Beppo and go family style with your meal.

Experience. Dinner and a show at the Tournament of Kings or a smorgasbord of man meat at the Thunder from Down Under. Yes, you have options at Excalibur Hotel. If you don’t need a show head to the Midway or as they are calling it now, The Fun Dungeon, and try your luck at over 150 games. Be careful because you’ll leave with way too many stuffed animals and you really don’t want to pay a checked bag fee just for some dust collectors.
