Las Vegas Hotel: Stratosphere

It’s an icon on the Las Vegas strip. It seems like no matter where you are at you can see the giant tower that is the Stratosphere. I often think about the old hotel that was on the site, Bob Stupak’s Vegas World, it had some crusty carpets and I was always positive that they had the heaters turned on to high in order to make you forget about how bad everything seemed inside the casino. Those days are gone and now you can get quite a Las Vegas experience at the hotel on the north end of the Las Vegas strip.

Sleep. You get possibly the best affordable accommodations in Las Vegas at the Stratosphere. The rooms have recently been renovated so you can expect modern furnishings, flat screen televisions and updated color schemes. In case you don’t know this, there are no rooms in the actual tower. People ask that question all the time so I figured I would clear that up for those of you who might have some issues with heights.

Eat. I tend to get very excited about a meal at the Top Of The World Restaurant at the Stratosphere. It could be the views from up high but I’m positive it is their approach to food. Lunch is a bit more casual and because of that I tend to gravitate to a long lunch with a view of Las Vegas. However, I could eat at McCall’s Heartland Grill anytime of the day. Giant prawns or a nice filet or the best corn chowder I have ever tasted are really all I need. Other options for food include Roxy’s Diner or the Tower Pizzeria. You get plenty of options and an ample amount of affordable ways to have a meal.

Experience. You’ll have to go to the top of the tower and enjoy the view. Why wouldn’t you? Face your fear of heights and then jump off with Skyjump or try one of the three rides that are designed to scare you silly. Insanity, X-Scream and Big shot each do their part to make sure you never travel to a tall tower in the middle of the desert again. Stick with jumping off the tower and experience a controlled freefall where cables assist your descent. You’ll get a view of the strip that only a few ever get to experience.

See. You’ll need to be entertained and Frankie Moreno and Claire Sinclair will do a great job of making sure that happens. Pin Up with Claire Sinclair is a variety show with a bit of a sexy flair and Frankie Moreno brings his 10 piece band together to remind you that Las Vegas is really about dancing and smiling.
