Let's Go Shopping At The Miracle Mile Shops

Las Vegas is many things to many people: excitement, adventure, entertainment, indulgence. But one aspect which somehow receives less attention is the amazing array of retail shopping here. Nearly every major brand, from high-end to bargain is represented on the Las Vegas Strip, and often more than once. For example, the Forum Shops at Caesars actually has two Louis Vuitton stores. For that matter, within a couple miles on the Strip can be found dueling huge Ross discount shops. But don’t let me get ahead of myself.

For a solid all-around shopping experience, I always think of the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. That phrase ‘something for everyone’ gets misused a lot, but this mall-in-the-round really might have it. The huge H&M store is where my wife always wants to start, if not BCBG, True Religion, Marciano, Guess or.Herve Leger. For something more uncommon, check out Vegas Royalty or the pin-up style of the Bettie Page boutique.

This is one of the better destinations for men’s shopping, too (most me, not me, but most). There’s Original Penguin, Rock & Religion, Urban Outfitters, and a sizable American Apparel store, plus plenty of sports gear. Kids will want to stop at Houdini’s Magic Shop and Sugar Factory. If you’re looking for something in the way of décor or art, Kush, Oh My Godard and Wyland Galleries all offer some intriguing selection. And, about a hundred more places to shop. No kidding.

If you’re tired of traipsing, maybe you’ll want to check out one of the shows here, like Vegas! The Show, or Marc Savard Comedy Hypnosis.

Or, just get some food. Lombardi’s Romagna does very decent pizza and pastas, with prices to match. Cabo Wabo is good for Tex Mex, margaritas and some prime people-watching. Or for something quick and fun, get a warm sandwich and soup at Earl of Sandwich or check out the unique Lobster ME, with a wide selection of all things crustacean (lobster on a stick! Lobster ice cream!) If you just want to drop off the guys to watch a game and drink beer while you browse in peace, park them at Blondies or Sin City Brewing Co. Just want a quick munch? Try and walk past Garrett Popcorn without indulging. Dare ya. (There’ also a Red Mango yogurt, Coffee Bean and two ABC Stores, among others)

Insider tip: If you’re driving, enter off Harmon Ave, and go to the free valet service (separate from the hotel valet, and faster!)
