The Ethel M Chocolates Holiday Cactus Garden

Before you say goodbye to the holiday season get a last glimpse of the holidays in Las Vegas at the Ethel M Chocolates Cactus Garden Holiday Display. You might be ready for that trip to the keys with visions of deep sea fishing and a gentle tug on your line while you drift in the stream but the Christmas season is not over yet.

This week you still have the New Year’s Weekend festivities to take in and the weather is not where you need it yet to break out the swimsuit. Put the surfboard back in storage and before you wax the skis and head to a glacier in the Canadian Rockies take a long walk around the fauna of the Mojave Desert while snacking on some chocolate.

The Holiday Cactus Garden at Ethel M Chocolates is a dazzling display of lights with a Las Vegas twist. You might not fine too many pine trees but you’ll find over 300 species of native plants that are drought tolerant and adapted to living in the Southern Nevada desert. The best part is that when the lights are on and you chew on their amazing pecan brittle it’s hard to not fall deep into the holiday spirit.

I have a few favorites such as the Ocotillo and the way the lights wrap the cacti like an ice cream cone. You‘ll walk past aloe with sparkling lights that make you forget that the giant thorns on the ends of the leaves will pierce your hand and bring a tear or two.

The Ethel M Chocolate Factory is open while the cactus display is on and you can load up on your favorite goodies before or after your tour of the garden. The display is fee and it is open until January 1, 2013 from 5pm to 10pm.
