The Insider: College Basketball March Madness in Las Vegas

It’s that time of year again, when groups of best friends gather from all different parts of the country and descend upon Las Vegas for the first weekend of March Madness.  It all commences on Thursday, March 15 with 16 heart pounding, adrenaline filled games that keep the sports books on edge and the beer flowing like the Colorado River.   Outside of holiday weekends, this may be the most electric weekend in Las Vegas and while the traditional sports books are some of the best game watching spots, here are some alternative options to change up your usual routine.

Lagasse’s Stadium at The Palazzo Las Vegas

The Palazzo Las Vegas has one of the best sports books in Las Vegas; Lagasse’s Stadium combines Emeril Lagasse’s signature cuisine with traditional bar and game day food.  Lagasse’s Stadium has more than 100 HD TVs including a 9-foot x 16-foot main TV where there is comfortable stadium-style couch seating, the perfect spot to catch the biggest games.  Additionally there are luxury boxes, couches all around the sports book, billiard tables, separate rooms with gambling and an outdoor patio that sits on The Strip.

Rhumbar at the Mirage

When the weather is nice (as it is suppose to be this week), one of the best patio spots in Las Vegas is at Rhumbar at the Mirage. With HD-TVs setup around the patio for March Madness, you won’t miss one shot in any of the games.  Add in fantastic drinks specials including $5 Corrs Light, $6 Ultimat Bloody Mary’s, $6 Patron Margarita’s and $5 Red Bull Rebound shots plus a tasty food menu that has Pulled Pork sandwiches, Hot Links and Nachos and you are in for a great day and weekend.

Hoops & Hops at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas will be hosting “Hoops and Hops.”  The event will feature a room full of HD-TV screens for optimum game watching and also have on premise two sports betting stations.  And for  $50 you can purchase an open bar wristband to enjoy an open bar from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

PBR Rock Bar at Planet Hollywood Miracle Mile Shops

With over 105 HD-TVs and a spacious patio, PBR Rock Bar is a premier game watching spot for all of March Madness.  With drinks specials, including $19 Beer Buckets and a tailgaters dream when it comes to snack food, you’ll want to make at least one trip to catch the basketball action.

Madness in March at Treasure Island Las Vegas

Looking for a great free college basketball game watching spot?  Head over to Treasure Island Las Vegas where on Thursday March 15 and Friday, March 16 all the games will be shown in the TI Theater featuring a giant HD-TV screen and stadium seating.  On Saturday, March 17 the party moves to the TI Ballroom where multiple TVs and seating will be available.
