The Insider: The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian Las Vegas

Where else would you experience the glory of Venice and find Herve Leger, Godiva, and The Art of Shaving under one roof other than the The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian Las Vegas.

In between playing hands of blackjack and people watching, you might want to fill your time with a dose of retail therapy. I’d certainly suggest taking a stroll through The Grand Canal Shoppes. Along with high-end retailers, you’ll find a wealth of specialty stores like the latest addition, IT’SUGAR--the sweet-filled shop that houses every piece of candy you could possibly imagine. And you’ll find some favorites that you know and love: Kenneth Cole, Banana Republic, Bebe, Ann Taylor, Swavorkski and others.

Now I could go on and on about the great shopping that lies between those walls, but I’m sure you get the picture. The thing to behold here is the experience. Modeled after the Old World, The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian Las Vegas are a trip back in time to a stately and busting Venice, Italy. Overhead you’ll find a bright blue sky and clouds and all around are bridges, cobblestone walkways, fine detail  and an exact replica of St. Mark’s Square that will make you believe you’re really in Venice (minus the smell). Take notice of jesters hosting shows in the “street,” members of The Venetian Las Vegas court making their presence known and stilt puppets entertaining the masses. Needless to say, the photo opps are endless. The Grand Canal Shoppes also lend themselves to great patio style dining. So if all of that posing you develop a hankering for delicious Italian food, make your way Enoteca Otto Pizzeria by Mario Batali & Joseph Bastianich (great food, great spot so you won’t miss the action).

No trip would be complete without a ride inside a gondola through the indoor canals. It may seem touristy (you are in Las Vegas afterall), but I promise it’s worth $15 and the memory.
