Travel Tip Wednesday: Beating The Heat In Las Vegas

Galavantier Guru here! I’m back with some travel tips on how to beat the heat this summer in Las Vegas.

Often times, too many visitors to Las Vegas are not used to triple digit temperatures and the dry heat of the desert. Luckily there are a handful of ways to protect yourself and still have a great time in Sin City.

Water – Drink plenty of it. They say you need to drink eight glasses of water a day; double it when you are in Las Vegas. Please remember to stay hydrated and keep drinking water throughout the day. If you are drinking adult beverages in the summer sun, think about having a glass or two of water in between each drink.

Sunscreen – No matter if you are walking The Las Vegas Strip at 6 a.m. or 6 p.m., don’t forget to wear sunscreen. The blistering heat will take its toll on you and the last thing you’ll want is to look like a lobster before you even make it to the pool! With blistering heat, make sure you reapply sun block every hour whether you are at the pool or just out for a walk.

Staying Cool – The A/C is constantly pumping in resorts and casinos on the Las Vegas Strip so if you find yourself outside for a long period of time, what better way to cool off and escape the summer heat than popping inside for a few minutes and chilling out.

Footwear – I’m like many people, I love wearing flip flops and sandals when the weather is warm but if you are walking The Las Vegas Strip I suggest you wear sneakers. The Las Vegas Strip is approximately 4.2 miles and believe me (from experience) after about half a mile your heels will be aching and you won’t want to continue.

It’s A Dry One – Lip balm, lotion and eye drops are three essential items you will want to remember to carry with you. The summer heat will dry you out and I’m going to guess you don’t want to wind up with chapped lips or dry skin and whether you wear contacts or not, you won’t want to deal with any eye irritation.

Also if you forget any of the sundries items above, there are a handful of CVS and Walgreens pharmacies on The Las Vegas Strip and the prices will be cheaper than if you were to buy them from the hotel gift shops.

Viva Las Vegas and enjoy the summer!
