Vegas’ Vegan-Friendly Options Grow

Over the past several years, Vegas has grown into quite the culinary giant, making it’s mark on the restaurant world with big name chefs like Giada de Laurentiis, Mario Batali, Joël Robuchon and many more setting up shop here. But something that many aren’t aware of, and most vegans and vegetarians would rejoice in knowing, are the vast number of vegan and vegetarian-friendly menu options on the Las Vegas Strip and off of it.

While more of the vegetarian and vegan-based restaurants exist off of the Strip, it’s usually a short cab ride and gets you out into the city.

For starters head to Bite Vegan Bakery, but take note that they are only open on Saturday and Sunday mornings, so it’s best to call ahead because they’ll probably be busy. Opt for the Vegan Belgian Waffles and you’ll be in waffle heaven.

Next up and not as far off the Strip as Bite is Slice of Vegas a ‘fun’ Italian restaurant. Don’t be fooled by the name, though, they have an entire Vegan Menu ranging from Vegan Faux Pie with vegan crust and a hearty mix of delectable veggies to Vegan Chocolate Cake that is creamy and delicious.

For a completely different kind of vegan and vegetarian experience, head to the Go Raw Café East where you can not only stock up on vegan-friendly items for your trip, you can get some amazing raw food meals as well. Try the Enchiladas with yam rice, guacamole and flax crackers.

More for the vegetarians in the house, Sunrise Coffee near the airport has amazing wraps that will have you craving their vegan-friendly mayo for days. Try my personal favorite the NomNom Burrito – made entirely vegetarian. Plus the folks that work there are super friendly and amazing, so don’t forget to tip.

Okay, now to get back on the Strip, you can always head to some of our favorites and ask for vegetarian/vegan friendly items, even if they’re not on the menu. One of our favorites is Bartolotta Ristorante Di Mare where you can get the seasonal vegetables whipped with risotto. More importantly, though, is that Wynn and Encore Hotels take vegan dining very seriously. They’ve even gone as far as hiring vegan chef Tal Ronnen to offer more menu options for guests with vegan preferences.

Joël Robuchon at MGM Grand also supposedly has a 16-course meal that is served sans meat, but this writer’s budget couldn’t afford to check it out, so we’ll have to take the restaurant’s word for it.

If you want to spice things up from the fine dining scene that’s usually on the Strip, head to Original India, which is located just minutes off of the Strip. Mostly vegetarian offerings, this place has our taste buds tingling with curry joyfulness.
