What To Wear This Fall in Las Vegas

Straight from Paris and onto the Vegas Strip, today we're talking about Fall fashion trends for 2014. When you live in a city as flashy and notoriously glamorous as this one, you know you can expect more than traditional muted colors to transform you. Think more items that go "ooh!" and "ahh!", plug it into some high-powered wattage and watch it glitter down The Strip.

 sweater dress finalSweater Dresses
While not exactly groundbreaking for a fall fashion choice, the usefulness of a quality sweater dress allows us to bare a little leg, show off some curves and still stay at a comfortable temperature when the Vegas sun goes down. They're particularly nice for the versatility of wearing to work and meld right into happy hour afterwards. The best thing is when you find a sweater dress that has a little uniqueness to it, like cutout shoulders or pleats.

sheer finalSheer Luck
Sheer clothing has always had a special home here in Vegas. It adds mysterious sex appeal while we also get a bit of functionality for staying cool during a hot Vegas fall day. It's especially popular when shown off by someone like Rihanna (did you see what she wore to the CFDA Fashion Awards this year?) but you can still try out some sheer components this season without taking it as far as she can. We're looking at sheer necklines on club dresses, cutouts with mesh, and the continuously popular sheer maxi dress. Don't be scared of your skin - it is Vegas after all.

shearling finalShearling & Fur Accents
The Midwestern girl in me always gets a little depressed when the apex of a Vegas winter arrives and it isn't even comparable to a Chicago November, thus ridding the need of a fabulous fur. But there are ways around this in the desert's fall & winter if we're willing to take the fur down a notch. Shearling is back in full force this season with tons of cozy bomber jackets and this can usually be translated into a chic fur vest like we've found. Or, a shearling bootie is a good way to keep the toes warm and allow for lighter layers on the rest of your body.

fairy finalFairy Tale Fusion
Blame Twilight, Lord of The Rings and Star Wars all you like, but the ethereal fantasy of fairy tales' fashion influence is apparent this season. Blended with a little bohemian LA vibe, you won't be far fetched to find some kind of fantastical elements in Vegas fashion this fall. Flowing maxis and some kind of structured jacket pulls it off without being too "14-year old Harry Potter fangirl," plus you get the opportunity to add as many cool jeweled items of geekery that you want. I get blasted with Facebook ads for Ashley Bridget jewelry all the time, and they've honestly turned me into a convert because they blend fantasy with a truly cool piece of bling that doesn't scream "I'm a humongous nerd" unless the person looking at it is also a nerd and can read the signs.

mens finalMen of the Galaxy
We didn't forget you, fellas! There's also a trend that guys should look into trying out this season, as explained by local Vegas fashion blogger extraordinaire, LollieShopping. She tipped me off to the wave of futuristic apparel for men, as recently made even more popular by Guardians of the Galaxy. Case in point, Chris Pratt's red jacket, where you can find exact replicas on Amazon and other corners of the Internet. Embrace the future, men, because it looks like an awesomely badass ninja that we'd want to run into on the street to help fight evil.

All in all, Fall fashion is usually the most fun and all-inclusive way to play with your entire wardrobe, so don't be afraid to use what you have in some new combinations of layers. Find a few new unique pieces that speak to you to freshen things up for the season with the tips above, and you'll be looking hot as you strut your stuff down the Vegas Strip.
