Where To Stay: Mandalay Bay Hotel Las Vegas

This hotel has long been atop my list of favorites because it has a certain level of classy, luxury and comfortable attributes. It’s not a super luxury resort although it has a tendency to feel that way. It’s also no longer the hippest spot on the Las Vegas strip although it can hold its own. It’s not cheap and it’s not necessarily convenient either. What it does well is keep you entertained, fed and very happy.

Sleep. The size of the rooms at Mandalay Bay are slightly larger than what you’ll find at most properties. The views of the strip can be dramatic and picturesque. I personally enjoy the view of the pool. Since the latest remodel I am smitten with the restrooms with large tubs with frosted glass windows that allow in a little extra light and a lot of shiny cool marble to make your feet tingle. The room has all the latest nice stuff so you will not be envious of what your friends have in their rooms at their luxury Las Vegas hotel. Big flat screens, pillow top mattresses, desk and mini-bar are all there waiting for you to take advantage of.

Eat. Eating has always been a stressful issue for me ever since the hotel first opened. With so many choices how do I make a decision? Breakfast of banana pancakes at Citizens lunch at either the Burger Bar, Border Grill or Hussong’s Cantina. Dinner? Oh my, the amazing wine list Aureole, the lounge feel at Red Square, the steak at Stripsteak or Charlie Palmer? After all of those options there still is Wolfgang Puck, Hubert Keller and Rick Moonen. Did I mention Slice of Vegas or Mix? So many choices!

Experience. Michael Jackson’s ONE by Cirque du Soleil is the newest addition to the entertainment options at Mandalay Bay and coupled with LIGHT nightclub your entire evening is set. However, you can have a drink at Minus 5 Ice Bar or start your night at RiRa Irish Pub. The truth is you need more time here because the House of Blues will probably have a show you’ll want to see and Mix Lounge is worth a few hours of your evening. If you spend anytime at Eye Candy Sound Bar and Lounge you realize that extending your Las Vegas vacation is the only real option when it comes to experiencing everything at Mandalay Bay. I should mention that you’ll have to consider Shark Reef Aquarium, Mandalay Place for shopping and the spa for a serving of relaxation. Don’t forget about Mandalay Beach and it’s huge wave pool and lazy river.

How will you fit it all in?
