Get Outdoors and Revel in the Splendor of Our Las Vegas Backyard

Now’s the time to get outside and indulge in the gorgeous Las Vegas weather we’ve experienced in the Valley these past several weeks.

Not sure where to start with your outdoor escapade?

Depending on your budget and time availability there’s mountains of possibilities to relish in the gorgeous landscape in and around especially around the city. Explore the following exciting, outdoor ventures available to you:

  1. Rock Climbing at Red Rock
Whether you’re a beginner or a rock climbing novice, getting out to discover the crevices, cracks and rugged terrain of Red Rock Canyon is a must for both residents and tourists alike.Boasting some of the most stunning views of Aztec sandstone around, this is the perfect outing that will get your heart pumping and put your fear of heights in check. Consider hiring a guide – as this is one of the best routes to take if you’re new to rock climbing or someone that doesn’t possess all of the appropriate gear. A guided tour is also great for experienced climbers that may just need a belay buddy.
  2. Skiing and Snowboarding at Mount Charleston
Seemingly worlds apart, the Las Vegas Strip to Mount Charleston are just a mere 30 minutes from one another. The weather may be perfectly mild in the Valley, but there’s snow on Mount Charleston and at nearly 12,000 feet the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort is the perfect place to ride. Locals call this hot spot, or, rather chilly rendezvous point, Lee’s Canyon.
  3. Death Valley Tour
It’s the perfect time of year to make that jaunt to Death Valley and explore the glorious yet harsh landscape that makes up this scorching hot and supremely dry region. Bring your coat and camera and snap shots for your portfolio that run the gamut of everything from volcanic craters to majestic mountains and everything in between.

  4. Hot Air Balloon
Dotting the sky nearly every weekend are the vibrantly colorful hot air balloons that have become a popular escapade in the crystal clear Las Vegas skies. Watch the sunrise from the best perspective around and also experience breathtaking visions of The Strip and Red Rock Canyon. Don’t forget that bottle of champagne to toast to the sun gods.
  5. Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay
While not exactly getting “outside,” going to visit the shark reef tank at Mandalay Bay brings you to another world as you gaze at 2,000 plus creatures in a massive 1.6 million-gallon water tank all around you. The experience is breathtaking and sure to enliven your heart and soul.
