Hotel Addict: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

It’s the middle of summer and you’re looking to skip work early on a Friday and travel to Las Vegas. If you are wondering where to stay, look no further than the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Las Vegas’ latest all encompassing resort and casino reminds me of a W Hotel but on a must larger scale. Forget the fact that it’s Las Vegas and has a casino, and look at the rest of the property. With stylish and chic décor throughout, one can’t help become infatuated with the resort within the first few minutes, especially the moment you enter the lobby and encounter video screen pillars of rotating art. Amenities alone, from the six bars to grab a drink from on the casino floor, myriad of dining options, three pools, state of the art spa and fitness facilities, it’s really a recipe for not having to leave the property at all while in Las Vegas.

Now if I were planning a weekend at the Cosmopolitan, here’s what I would suggest are your travel tips for ensuring a perfect summer weekend.

Secure yourself a Wraparound Terrace Suite. Why? Because it is one of the best room options in all of Las Vegas with views of the Bellagio Fountains as well as the south end of The Strip to Mandalay Bay. Your suite at the Cosmopolitan checks in at 1200 sq. ft. complete with a king size bed, C.O. Bigelow amenities in the bathroom, flat screen televisions, a modern kitchenette and just in case you need to do laundry, a full size washer/dryer.

Next it’s time to hit the pool and catch some of that summer's sunshine. Head over to the Boulevard Pool, which provides quite the scene from hot bodies to killer views of The Strip. Saunter up to one of the bars for a quenching cocktail and if swimming and sun bathing doesn’t sound good enough, there is ping pong, pool and shuffleboard at your disposal for entertainment.

For some pre-dinner cocktails make sure to hit up Vesper Bar right off the lobby. A fantastic mixology program is in place to offer you some special libations that you’ll be dreaming about for days and weeks to come.

Now there are a lot of great dining options at the Cosmopolitan but a top for me is Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill. The famed hybrid restaurant from New York courtesy of brothers Bruce and Eric Bromberg serves some of best cuisine in town. With daily deliveries from Japan it’s no wonder you’ll be enjoying some of the freshest seafood anywhere including the best Mackerel and Albacore Tuna I have ever had. If fish isn’t your thing, have no fear as the Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken served with a honey, wasabi dipping sauce is to die for as is the Oxtail Fried Rice and Duroc Pork Ribs. For dessert there is only one thing you should be ordering, Ginger Bread Pudding, deliciousness.

To cap off a great summer day and night in Las Vegas, head to Marquee Nightclub located inside the Cosmopolitan, which right now is the hottest nightclub in the country. Over 65,000 sq. ft. of indoor, outdoor, multi-level club space gives you plenty of partying options. The music format of the main room and outside pool area is electronic dance music where you’ll be sure to hear all the top electronic tracks. If you sneak away upstairs to The Library; you’ll hear more eclectic sounds in a relaxing environment. However, my favorite part of Marquee can be found downstairs in the Boom Box Room where a more top-40, hip-hop music format reigns supreme. You can easily get lost in the club for hours and when it’s 5 a.m. and the party is still thumping, you’ll know why you decided to go to Marquee this summer.

Some additional musts when staying at Cosmopolitan:

The Chandelier – A three story bar that is gorgeous and features live music each night, specialty cocktails and a great spot for people watching

Bond – If you’re not set on waiting in line and paying cover to hit up a nightclub, head over to Bond where there is no line, no cover but feels as if you are in a nightclub with DJs, go-go dancers and stiff cocktails

D.O.C.G. – Awesome pizza and wine bar from Scott Conant of Scarpetta

STK – Hip, trendy and always good eye candy, the steakhouse at the hotel and a great spot to stop in for at least a drink and get your night started off right

P3 Studio – A rotating art exhibit on the third floor which currently features Kid Robot
