Las Vegas Hotel: Wynn

Wynn Las Vegas
When Steve Wynn opened this resort it was opulent. It had class. It was about luxury and style. Well, those things still remain. It’s just that a subtle and some say not so subtle change has occurred over the last couple of years. It’s somewhat of a clash between two different types of Vegas experiences. The luxury getaway still exists in some form at Wynn but it has been supplanted to some extent by the nightlife vibe. If there is one resort that is at the center of the juggernaut in after dark entertainment that would have to be Wynn and Encore Las Vegas. If you don’t believe me maybe you have never seen the lines at Tryst, XS and Surrender. Don’t even get me started on the action at Encore Beach Club.

Sleep. The rooms have recently had a redo but they were pretty nice to begin with. If you expect the best the best will appear and all the little things are done right at Wynn. Expect those super soft towels and a nice tub to soak in. The beds will hug you and the giant television will dazzle you. If you feel like lounging on a soft couch it’s there and the roomy desk almost makes you want to sit down and write out a few postcards to those unlucky people who are not staying at this hotel. Ask for a view of the pool and the golf course if you love the daytime activities because the view of the strip from these rooms is so impressive that it prevents you from getting any sleep.

Eat. The concept of great hotel dining was taken up a notch when Wynn Las Vegas opened. Now, the last couple of years have changed that a bit as plenty more great restaurants have filled the shelves of Las Vegas hotels but you can still get some pretty good eating in at Wynn. Some of my favorites like SW Steakhouse and the Country Club are still very impressive. You might want to check out La Cave for a more casual wine bar and Tapas experience or Allegro for some their approach to Italian American cuisine.

Dance . The spotlight on nightlife is huge at Wynn where you can dance by the waterfall at Tryst or mingle near the pool at XS or do a little inside and outside socializing at Surrender. The clubs are hot at Wynn and you’ll notice that by the long lines to get into the clubs.

Play. You can choose the spa or the pool but if you have the opportunity you have to choose to relax at the golf course. The course is so well manicured and the views of the strip are exactly what the golfer in you needs on your Las Vegas vacation.
