Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational At Shadow Creek Golf Course

Since we are talking golf we should mention that next month the Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational is going on at Shadow Creek Golf Course.  The tournament is hosted by Aria Resort and casino and has a huge list of celebrities that try to tame the beast that is Shadow Creek.

The tournament is being held April 3 – 6 and each year it proves to be quite the event. You spend a few days roaming the secluded fairways and elevated greens and it feels like you have the most pristine park all to yourself. Well, you and Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Alan Thicke and this years newcomers such as Ray Romano, Luke Wilson and the Boys from Boyz II Men.

The beauty of Shadow Creek Golf Course is that it is very difficult to get on unless you are staying at an MGM Resorts property and you have money to burn. In other words, if you have to ask how much it costs to play then you cannot afford it. Lucky for you I can tell you all about the course as I have played it on numerous occasions and I am proud to say that I have even posted a few impressive scores on the course (impressive for me anyway).

Find a spot near the hospitality tent on the 18th hole and you’ll have a great view of the groups coming up the fairway and avoiding the water. You’ll have access to the party atmosphere or park yourself alongside one of the signature par 3’s where the ebb and flow of crowd reaction is just as much fun as watching these amateur golfers attempt to dial in a shot on some very challenging hole placements.

This tournament, now in its 13th year has raised nearly $7 million for charities including this year’s beneficiaries Make-A-Wish, James R. Jordan Foundation, Keep Memory Alive, Opportunity Village and Cats Care, the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats’ charity arm. This years celebrities include: Michael Jordan, Marcus Allen, Brian Baumgartner, Roger Clemens, Wayne Gretzky, Ken Griffey, Jr., Penny Hardaway, Brody Jenner, Toni Kukoc, Mario Lemieux, Christina Milian, Jake Owen, Aaron Rodgers, Ozzie Smith, Jerome Bettis, Brandi Chastain, Chris Chelios, Josh Freeman, Dan Jansen, Janet Jones-Gretzky, Jonathan Ogden, Paul O’Neill, Mike Piazza, Ahmad Rashad, Stuart Scott, Bruce Smith, Jason Taylor, Alan Thicke and Winky Wright.
