New Rules For Drinking on Fremont Street

It used to be a tourist and local’s favorite pastime: buying a six-pack of beer and heading downtown to people watch under the Fremont Street Experience (FSE) canopy. Now, however, doing so can be a punishable with a very expensive offense based on the recent ordinances that were passed by the Las Vegas City Council. This law doesn’t just affect locals; Vegas visitors are just as accountable for knowing the rules. If you’re going to Fremont Street here is what you need to know before you pop the top on that can of booze.

  • Glass bottles and aluminum cans of alcohol are banned in the five-block area of the Fremont Street Experience
  • You are able to drink alcohol from a FSE business as long as it’s in an appropriate plastic container
  • If you buy a drink within a FSE establishment and they let you leave with it in a to-go cup, you won’t be fined
  • Open packaged liquor is also banned and this includes bagged booze, so leave it unopened until you get back to your hotel room
  • No open containers of alcohol are allowed anywhere on the Fremont East portion of Fremont Street
