The Most Unusual Places to Hangout in Vegas

Vegas is filled with unique nooks and crannies. There are, however, some very unusual places and experiences that you can uncover in town, making your trip even more special. Check out our list below to experience some of the strangest and most distinctive activities on your Vegas vacation. Get a little crazy and get off the beaten path.

Awe, mermaids: the mythical creatures that have fascinated millions of people worldwide for centuries. While you can’t actually see a real mermaid, for obvious reasons, you can at least experience what we imagine their beauty and elegance to be like at The Mermaid Restaurant and Lounge in the Silverton Casino and Hotel. You can dine and drink next to a 117,000-gallon saltwater aquarium containing approximately 4,000 fish as well as the ‘mermaids.’ That’s right, you’ll get a glimpse of beautiful woman with fishtails elegantly gliding through the gorgeous waters of this watery habitat.

Gondola Rides
When it comes to Vegas, anything is possible, including bringing the famed gondola rides you would expect to find in Venice canals into our city. Inside of the Venetian you’ll find the Grand Canal waterway, which also has an outdoor portion. Sit and take a ride inside, bypassing the Grand Canal Shoppes, or take your gondola ride outside to enjoy a new perspective of the Las Vegas Strip. While you’re at the Venetian, make a stop into Madame Tussauds wax museum where you can admire “lifelike wax figures” of celebrities like Hugh Hefner, Fergie, Shaquille O’Neal and more. Eerily realistic, these figures are great photo opportunities and you’ll have your friends back home guessing as to if you really met Nicolas Cage on your Vegas trip or not.

Shine Alternative Fitness
You’re in Vegas and you just caught one of the Cirque du Soleil’s shows like Beatles Love, Ka or Zumanity. Why not take your Vegas trip to a whole fitnessnew level with a Cirque workout? That’s where Shine Alternative Fitness comes into play. A fitness center made and taught by Cirque du Soleil performers, you can enjoy workshops that will leave you with a better appreciation for what these performers can do while also adding an interesting workout to your regimen. For example, you can take a class in Beginner Aerial Silks or Beginner Aerial Hoop and AntiGravity Yoga 1. These classes give you insight into the life of a Las Vegas performer while giving you a workout to boot.

Dolphin Yoga
Sticking with the fitness theme as the above subject, The Mirage Hotel and Casino allows you to escape the world around you and setup your yoga mat in the underwater dolphin sanctuary viewing area. Here you can slip into a tranquil state of relaxation as these gorgeous dolphins flip and twirl around in the water. They will be just as intrigued with you as you are with them. Nothing could be more peaceful in Vegas than this class. Just a note, there are usually only eight spots available, so call in advance to snag a place.

You may or may not have heard of the infamous Heart Attack Grill in Downtown Las Vegas on Fremont Street. If you haven’t gone in, then you’re in for an interesting night out for dinner. Upon arrival, you receive the option to get outfitted with a hospital gown over your clothing as you’re served by waitresses in sexy nurses outfits. The menu consists of items like Single Bypass Burger and Double Bypass Burger of which you can add several pieces of bacon. The mother load of burgers is an Octuple Bypass Burger with eight burger patties and 40 slices of bacon as an add on. If you’re looking to eat light, you can just go with a Naughty Shake in Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Maple or Coke, just know that all shakes come with a scoop of butter on top. Remember not to order more than you can eat as your nurse waitress will paddle you, no joke. You can pay $6 to keep the paddle as a souvenir, if you’re so inclined.
